My mind is in a zillion places this week:

Soccer practice.
PTO Party Planning Meeting.
Book Study at church.
Classroom helper at Cloe's school.
Ladies Conference this weekend.
Pediatrician Appointments.
Schedule Homeschool Checks.
Stranger Study with a new couple.
Bag Party.
College Bible Study.
Speech Evaluation appointment.
Sort clothes for garage sale.
Plan a birthday party.
Homework every night.
Treats for MOPS.
Checking on my grandma.
Watching the news...volcano...parent's canceled flight...
laundry.garden.cook.clean.
emails.emails.more emails.
eat.sleep.exercise.

I feel like a cuh-ray-zee lady!

Thanks to a wonderfully encouraging friend who has been praying so diligently for me this week...
...and a very special "personalized" verse from Isaiah 26:3, "You will keep her in perfect peace whose mind in stayed on You"...

I'm experiencing God's peace.
I trust that God is in control.

Nothing has spiraled out of His control.
No mental breakdown has hit me.
I have peace!
What needs to be accomplished is getting finished!

God is fully supplying everything I need to conquer this week...for HIS glory!
(by everything, I mean everything from changed schedules to selfless volunteers...God's people are amazing!)

Tonight, when soccer practice was canceled due to the rain, I immediately started pulling together a special supper for Cody that would include his favorite:  Graziano Brother's Italian Sausage!
Everything was going so well...but where was he?
He normally heads home from work between 5:30 and 6:00...
It was 6:14.
A new spicy dish was ready to go...but no Cody.
I called his phone and it went to voicemail.
Hmmm...
I called it again...yeah, I'm that wife.
He answered in a hushed voice,
"I'm in a meeting.  Did you forget?"
"Ah. Yep.  Love you. Bye."

Fail.
Almost.
The kids enjoyed this special meal so much, I totally had to capture it.

Hilarious.
We really do have table manners...they just fly out the window with spaghetti.

Silly Spaghetti Sauce lips.

Hot-n-Spicy Spaghetti Sauce
(This makes a huge batch.  Perfect for the freezer!)

1 1/2 pounds Graziano Brother's Italian Sausage (made in Des Moines!)
1 medium red bell pepper
1 medium yellow bell pepper
1 large batch Fire Roasted Tomatoes or 2 28-oz cans crushed tomatoes
1 small can tomato paste
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 palm-full dried oregano  (fresh would be even better!)
1 palm-full dried basil  (fresh is best!)
Salt and pepper to taste

Whole wheat spaghetti

Brown sausage and drain fat.  In another pot, heat tomatoes.  (At this point, I used a handheld blender to puree the tomatoes.)  Add peppers, tomato paste, and garlic.  Simmer for 15 minutes.  Add seasonings and meat.
Serve over whole wheat spaghetti, and top with a little parmesan cheese.

Isn't graziano stuff the best? I am sure you have been to their store...I love it!
Wow, crazy week, life never slows down and it doesn't wait for us to be ok with the pace. BUT like we heard tonight, breath in truth...breath out truth. Breath in stress,... you know! I am praying for you. I just did and I will again! I Really admire your unwavering dedication to so many things!!!

Dearest Sister,

You think you're stressed, you think you're frazzled... you got no idea, my friend. I'm stuck in Paris with your parents. Talk about stress. I've had to decide (twice) what trains & subways to take to visit the beautiful sites of Paris. I've had to decide what time to take the boat tour on the Seine. I've had to decide what delicious meals to eat (the Iranian restaurant was outstanding). I've had to decide multiple times what pastries to munch on (actually we "nibble" in France).

I'd like to tell you more but I've got a baguette just crying out to be consumed, so I'll let you go.

By the way, if the volcano keeps going, can you send money... I don't want to get hungry.

Stuck in Paris,

Your brother

Hmm. I just read this post. I think we might have had spicy spaghetti the same night. Or sometime recently anyway. Yum! Fareway has the sausage roll on sale this week, so I'll probably brown up another batch of your secret blend. :) Thanks for the encouragement . . . I think this week's verse should be II Cor. 10:4-5, about bringing our thoughts into captivity. Been struggling to practice that one. Seems like a rather important step toward the more disciplined life that God keeps gently reminding me I need to lead. :) Hope this week has more moments of relaxation/refreshment, but just as many answers to prayer! --Jess
