Thrifty Tip #35: Artwork for children's rooms can be expensive. Try this easy project for a great personalized piece in your child's bedroom! (*cost breakdown below)
I got this amazing idea from Amanda at Impress Your Kids. (because we all know I'm not that artsy!)
She took our family's very favorite line from The Jesus Storybook Bible by Sally Lloyd-Jones and turned it into a super adorable piece of artwork!
We also used a very special verse for our boys to let them create a special masterpiece for their room.
Materials needed:
Painting Canvas ($3 each at Michaels)
Alphabet stickers or cut-outs ($1.75 for 1 pack)
Paint (we used inexpensive water-base paint 2/$1)
1. Place letters on canvas. Make sure a good seal is formed.
3. Once canvas is entirely painted, let the paint dry completely.
4. Carefully peel off stickers to reveal very special words!
*Cloe absolutely loved doing this project. Her letters were a little thinner and don't show up as well as we had hoped, so we will probably do another canvas soon.

How cute! We will have to make this our next canvas project!! Thanks for sharing. :)
Love this! I painted 1 Cor 16:13 in Titus's room, like Liz did for Ryan. Titus is learning to say it. He fills in "guard . . . stand firm in faith . . . strong . . . with love" when we say it together. :) -Jess
Awesome! I love the polka dots your daughter did! And the verse for the boys is awesome. So glad you did this! :)
I got the things today...yeah! That is a great sale at Michael's! We're going to do "James 1:27 Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world." Around this, we'll have a wall of pictures of children that God allows us to minister to. Thanks for the great idea!!! Joy
Love it! I have letters, canvas, and the paint to do a "Family Rules" canvas for the kitchen but I haven't done it yet. I will need to get the show on the road so it will be done by the time you come and see us!!
Loooooooooove this. Thanks for the idea!
You ARE artsy, silly! You just need to try these kinds of projects more often and you'll come up with all sorts of masterpieces.
I absolutely love this!
Wonderful project...and could your kids be any cuter? Um, nope. :)
Blessings!
Amanda
Very cool! Gotta do this soon! But do you think it'd be okay to have the verse be, "Children obey your parents..."? Ha, ha. :)
What a great idea. I'll have to think about a phrase, but it looks like fun.
Great job!! I've wanted to do this project ever since I saw it at OhAmanda, but have dreaded cutting out all of the letters. Using the stickers like you did would be a great time-saver!
This is fabulous! A craft the grand-boy can make for his momma's Christmas gift. One that I don't have to have "talent" to do. Thanks so much. Blessings, SusanD
Oh, I hopped over here from H-Mama!
